Turnitin

Turning Banner

Turnitin is a content originality service that promotes academic integrity by checking student submissions against other works from Loyola University Chicago students, other Turnitin-subscribed institutions, extant scholarly publications, and public content associated with the Turnitin database.

Using Turnitin

Turnitin as a service provider offers several products that promote integrity in assessment. Loyola University Chicago uses Turnitin Originality, integrated with the Sakai Assignments tool, to review student submissions against the Turnitin database; this results in a Similarity score to compare the submission's similarity to other existing content, along with a score to detect possible AI writing. With Originality checking, Turnitin checks for possible plagiarism or false authoring of student work.
